Entries are display most recent first.

Please note - due to a recent "hacking" incident -
entries between August 2008 and December 2011 were lost.
Unfortunately- every effort to recover the lost entries was unsuccessful
as even the backup files were corrupted beyond repair. Fortunately an off-site
backup of the earlier entries was available and is here. We regret this loss.

Comments:

I served aboard Orion as a QM3 from 1973-1975. She was in Charleston, SC at that time, under SUBRON 4. Her call letters were NUGZ. There has been a reunion every year for the past 10. The Orion was decommisioned in 1993, after 50 continuous years service. I will see if I can dig up some photos for her web page. I'm looking forward to hearing from shipmates, or anyone who served aboard. WIKDAD@AOL.COM

Name:

Don Greene

Tender:

USS Hunley AS-31

Comments:

The USS Hunley also went to Guam to relieve the Proteus AS-19 sometime from 1966-1969 I served on board her from 1964 - November 1969, a long time. In the Chief's quarters they had a plaque showing a picture, along with the names ,of the CPO's that rode the Hunley over ( I was one of them). A lot of CPO's flew over in advance to get things Ready for when we got there. I sure would like to have that plaque or at least a copy of it. The Hunley has not had an reunion that I know of??????? Name:

Robert Heath

Tender:

Comments:

I operated out of Guam from 1975-1980 for 5 patrols on the Theodore Roosevelt SSBN 600 Gold and 2 patrols on the George Washington SSBN 598 Blue. Tis a fine line between freedom and the other possibility, the line is so fine at times that it is hard to see the steel that made us the defenders of a nation. Alway remember, that it took all of us to ensure our freedom. Bob Heath MT2(ss)
